Consistency leads to a strong final result for Desmares.
Saturday the 6th of August, the NQ Sprintcars ventured to the famed Mareeba clay way for its 50th anniversary of racing meeting.
Jared Desmares headed into the weekend with some confidence after the team rectified some fueling issues on the NQ40 Sprintcar with help from Ken at KRE Race Engines.
The first heat of the night saw Jared finish in a solid second position, right on the tail of the fast-finishing Brian Walsh. The team then made some small changes in the pits to the chassis setup as the track was slickening off. Thanks to Cameron King and team for lending a hand as our usual crew chief was unavailable for the weekend!
Jared then lined up for his second round of heats where he started on pole position, taking a commanding victory over team sponsor and great friend Cameron King of Civform. This added some confidence for Jared heading into the 25 lap feature race where he would start from position 4 on the grid.
Feature race time – Jared got a great start with an early caution causing a complete restart; once the event had recommenced Jared was able to get in a groove and chase down leader, Brian Walsh. Unfortunately, not being able to close the gap from the leader, finishing a strong second place once the chequered flag had dropped with King hot on his heels in 3rd place.
Jared now turns his attention to Cairns Speedway, with the last NQ race for the team being completed on the 20th of August. Before returning to Brisbane to start preparing for a busy Pro Sprint season, our intention is to compete in the Peytzo Development Series and limited C&H Trucking rounds in Victoria.
